There are songs that start as melodies looking for a message, and there are songs that start as a message looking for its melody. "Warriors of Light" belongs firmly to the second category. Its lyrics existed years before its final sound did, written in the days right after the war in Ukraine began, and carried by The Dara through years of false starts until the track finally found the voice it needed to exist.

A War That Wasn't Supposed to Happen Again
When the war broke out, The Dara was in Mexico, with plans to return home. That return suddenly became impossible. What hit hardest wasn't only the war itself, but the disbelief that it could happen at all in this era.
Raised in Belarus in a culture where May 9 was a yearly act of remembrance for the Second World War, The Dara grew up believing that history had already taught the world its hardest lesson, that this kind of destruction would never be allowed to repeat itself.
And then it did.
The war carried a personal weight too. With both Russian and Ukrainian roots in the family, The Dara watched people who had shared decades of friendship, culture and history suddenly forced onto opposing sides. Friendships broke. Old bonds turned into silence, and sometimes into hate.
Out of that fracture came the first lines of "Warriors of Light," an attempt to say something simpler and older than any border: that before politics and ideology, people are still just people. One family, sharing one planet.

A Song That Refused to Be Abandoned
The words came fast. The music didn't. The Dara tried the song with different musicians and different vocal approaches, but nothing matched the weight the lyrics carried. Eventually the project was shelved, though never fully let go.
Over the following years, the feeling that the song needed to exist kept resurfacing, often in the middle of the night. As new conflicts emerged around the world, that pull turned into something closer to responsibility. The Dara describes reaching a point of no longer being able to stay on the sidelines.
Ordinary People, Not Superheroes
At the core of "Warriors of Light" is a simple idea: that light and darkness both live inside every person, and that everyone chooses, through their actions, which one they feed.
For The Dara, the "Warriors of Light" aren't extraordinary figures. They're the people who show up for children, animals, the elderly, people with disabilities, mothers, and anyone living without a home. People who reject violence. People who use whatever they have, however small, to make the world a little less painful.
The chorus, "We are the Warriors of Light," isn't a promise that someone else will fix things. It's a refusal to wait for that someone else to show up.

Crossing a Line to Finish It
The last obstacle wasn't musical. It was personal. The Dara had always held onto the belief that an artist's voice has to come directly from the artist, nothing standing in between. Turning to artificial intelligence to help realize the vocal felt, at first, like breaking that principle.
But somewhere along the way, the song outgrew that resistance. The Dara made the decision to try it anyway, and the result was the voice the track had been missing for years: the power, depth and emotion the song had always needed. Not a replacement for artistic identity, but one more tool used to finally release a message that had been waiting to be heard.
Not About Waiting for the Dark to Pass
"Warriors of Light" isn't a song about hoping the darkness disappears. It's about what people choose to bring into it.
The Dara hopes it doesn't just move listeners for the length of the track, but pushes them toward something afterward, however small: helping someone, speaking up, protecting someone vulnerable, choosing compassion when it would be easier not to.
Because, as The Dara puts it, light doesn't have to be loud. Sometimes it starts with one person simply deciding to choose it.
