Mauricio Calderón is a Mexican DJ and tech house producer.
"I started playing rave parties throughout southeastern Mexico, and I came to Playa del Carmen in 2010 to start my career in tech house and techno, playing clubs and festivals. I became a resident at The Room and began traveling the world to make my music and my country known. I'm currently on two labels, Cosmikal Records Mexico and Street Groove Spain, with three tracks on Beatport.
"2022 was a very active year: I spent five months touring Europe, Asia and Punta Cana, and released a new track on Beatport. It was very interesting to be in Asia for the first time; people are very friendly and respect Mexico and Spain."
How does Mauricio prepare before each show?
Before each show I concentrate on studying the venue and the audience, getting an idea of the music to play and adding my own touch. I like every session to be different, sometimes more melodic, sometimes darker, or even with vocals. I also like to know which artists I'm playing with and the schedule, to build a good set.
What's coming soon for Mauricio Calderón?
In 2023 I'll be touring South America. I'll be in Mexico for a few months, I'm working on an EP, and I'm focused on being on the best labels and at big events, to make Mexico and our culture known.
