KASSIE is a surprising young artist from León, Guanajuato, who began her approach to music at a very young age: "When I was six years old, my grandfather would play me vinyl records of classical music, blues, boleros and ballads."

How did you enter the world of music?
Music has always been present in my life. At 17 I started connecting directly with electronic music, and from that moment I learned to play on CDJs. At 18 I moved to Guadalajara, where I started listening to a wide range of genres at Bar Américas. That's where I found myself and clicked with melodic techno at first. Over time I moved into genres like industrial techno, electronic, techno house and others.
Tell us about your residency at Bar Américas
My residency at Bar Américas started when I was 19, opening for headliners such as Oscar Mulero, Marcel Dettmann, Lilly Palmer and Pleasurekraft, among others.
How does KASSIE prepare for a show?
Before a show I prepare at home by digging into the record labels I like most. I search through the music of the artists who catch my attention and inspire me, and I make a selection that keeps the same sound without changing tonality too much. I like to sound harmonic and hard at the same time, with bass, kicks and percussion.
What does it mean to you to have achieved success in the music scene?
For me it represents the effort and dedication I put into my work, my objectives and goals. For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to leave my mark on music.
What advice would you give to women who want to get into electronic music?
My advice to women, and to anyone who wants to dedicate themselves to this field, is to take it seriously and always enjoy it, without pressure; the rest will come. It's always good to cultivate and innovate in music. Never give up the search: there are millions of talents in the world.
"Don't stop moving forward passionately."
Upcoming projects
My next project, already underway, is my audiovisual production company MGNT, where we do real-time mapping shows, building all of our own animations, accompanied by international and national headliners. We create a sound space for an exceptional experience, with our light show and performance.
